Strategies to Incorporate in Evidence-Based Practice
The current healthcare system is drastically advancing with increased professional responsibility among clinical staff in providing safe and high-quality care services which require the incorporation of evidence-based practice in decision making (Titler, 2018). Appropriate implementation of EBP has been associated with a positive outcome for the patients, clinical staff, and healthcare organizations. However, the process of implementing EBP in a clinical setting is considered long-term, hence requiring several strategies such as organizational and individual factors in addition to other factors which are related to the patient. This discussion illustrates the most effective strategies for integrating EBP into my clinical practice.
The first strategy is creating a learning environment which requires designing and executing training programs like the EBP journal clubs. A substantial amount of evidence supports the significance of journal clubs in improving patient outcomes by reviewing clinical practice in debate forums and use of several models to gauge the strength of evidence being incorporated in clinical practice (Almomani et al., 2020). The second strategy is promoting knowledge creation by consulting EBP experts and faculty members on the most effective intervention to implement based on evidence. EBP experts will help to guide research in identifying the practice gap and come up with a solution based on collected data (Farokhzadian & Poorchangizi, 2017). They also help in determining the most effective way of preparing the organization for the change to promote a positive outcome. The last strategy is by promoting a culture of evidence-based critical thinking and decision making, which will also enhance the use of clinical guidelines in developing healthcare standards based on evidence.
