Strategies for Disseminating EBP Project Outcomes
Once the implementation process of the EBP project has been completed, it is necessary to disseminate the findings to affected stakeholders to hardwire the new intervention within the organization (Ashcraft et al., 2020). Appropriate dissemination strategies are however specific for internal and external stakeholders. For my EBP project, the internal dissemination strategy will take the form of a brief summary of the project as an abstract, which will be distributed in the newsletters of the healthcare organization, where nursing practitioners and other healthcare professionals normally look for practice updates. The information that will be contained in the project summary includes the title of the project, name, and credentials of the project director/manager and the team members, objectives, rationale, evidence synthesis, practice change, strategies for implementing the project, and the evaluation results.
The external dissemination strategies on the other hand will take the form of posters and podium presentations at regional, local, national, and international conferences (LoBiondo-Wood et al, 2018). The study findings on the use of the Fall TIPS (Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety) toolkit in reducing the rates of falls in the medical-surgical unit will also be published in relevant clinical practice journals to promote easy access to clinicians for adequate knowledge and understanding required for the adoption of the updated new practice.
Finally, communicating the findings to the patient is also crucial to help promote confidence in following the fall prevention protocols outlined as part of the Fall TIPS toolkit (San Martin, 2019). This will be done face to face with patients admitted to the medical-surgical ward. They will be educated on why the new practice is considered the most effective in reducing their rates of falls, and the benefits associated. A simple language will be used to communicate the project outcome to patients and their families to promote their understanding of the new practice.
