According to Sue Green, the term “family of choice” describes how families are in today’s society (2018). Family of choice, according to Green (2018), consists of “people who are together because of friendship and affection, not bloodlines,” as well as “those who are selected by an individual to care, love, and trust rather than the family of origin.” These days, animals are also regarded as family members. Bloodline or not, the people who the patient refers to as “family” are the ones who will support and look out for them the most. Early family dynamics assessment and identification is essential for nurses to promote family health and enhance patients’ general health. The health of the family affects the health of the individual, according to Green (2018). Nurses will be better able to meet the requirements and preferences of their patients as they become more familiar with the varied family configurations that exist.
A “classic approach to and problems” is the family system theory (Green, 2018). Families are “considered open systems in that the individual members and the unit can be changed by internal and external settings,” and they are “adaptive because they satisfy the demands of the changes that impact the group,” according to Katherine Rosenbusch (2010). When a family’s principal breadwinner, the father, suffers a heart attack and is hospitalized for an extended period of time, the stress on the family dynamics is increased. To me, the family system theory resembles a “domino effect” because it holds that when one thing occurs, another inevitably follows.

Morgan provided a wise reaction. I agree with what you said. Families’ organizational structures are always evolving and diversifying. Health is correlated with multifactorial causation, and a person’s family can influence their health in a variety of ways. Therefore, elements that affect health, such as risk and protective factors, can be strongly influenced by changes in family structure (Kaakinen et al., 2018). Family members are likely to have similar risk factors for health that may result from a variety of socio-demographic factors in their local community, neighborhood, culture, and housing. Family members also impart beneficial elements that advance wellness. Family members are exposed to the same healthy eating and living practices. In addition, the family shares financial resources for managing health problems and health care costs, including the security provided by the availability of funds for dealing with medical problems. As a result, in order to enhance results, the health care system must take into account the shifting family dynamics and take them into account when providing care to patients.

As society has begun to deviate from societal conventions, the notion of a family is something that is constantly developing. “A group of people, usually of the same blood (but not necessarily), who sincerely love, trust, care about, and watch out for one other,” according to Urban Dictionary. This definition, which takes into account all different kinds of family formations, seems to me to be the most correct. It is crucial for caregivers to recognize unconventional family systems. I think the definition of “family” is arbitrary, therefore even if we don’t see it that way, the family unit encompasses whatever the person thinks it does. This is similar to pain in my opinion; regardless of what we may think, it is what the sufferer says it is. Given this, it’s critical that we maintain an open mind and avoid making hasty judgments. Someone who is significant to a patient should, in turn, be significant to us and involved in patient care and instruction.
