Overview
Write a 2–4-page report on the concepts, processes, and tools needed to conduct a community health assessment, how to find the data, and how to validate the data. Context
Social and lifestyle behaviors can affect health. In fact, some would argue that many, if not most, health risks can be mitigated through lifestyle and behavioral changes. With this in mind, the health care provider must be aware of the socioeconomic factors and the lifestyle factors present in a population. Both social and cultural factors influence many lifestyle factors. Living environment, housing conditions, employment factors, diet, and cultural beliefs all play a role in a person’s levels of risk and resulting health. The nursing assessment must include these social influences as part of the domain necessary for evaluation and inclusion in the assessment approach, and integrate a framework for analysis, which includes all the social milieus associated with each dimension.Evidence-based health assessments are done using health data from private and public organizations. There are many opportunities for gathering health data in a community, through public health systems and through private records, where approval has been obtained from participants.Collecting primary data must involve informed consent. Secondary sources can also be used by obtaining aggregate data from health plans and health care providers that do not include personalized demographic data. Each of these data sources can be important to forming a picture of a community’s health, which can then be compared to national standard data such as that provided through Healthy People 2020. Understanding the current health status and the perceived needs of a community can help to provide the valuable information needed to set forth a plan which evaluates the current and future health needs of the community.

You must proofread your paper. Your post addresses one of the most pertinent issues in the United States healthcare system. Nursing shortage is a major issue affecting delivery of healthcare in the United States. High rate of retirement, turn over, and shortage of qualified educators contribute to inadequately staffed facilities. I agree with you that due to shortage, employed nurses experience burnout since they have to work for long hours. However, the problem can be evaluated from multiple angles to appreciate the need for increased enrollment in training schools, recruitment, and mentorship. I would consider the plight of healthcare facilities amidst the shortage because they are compelled to stretch the existing workforce. Bakhamis et al. (2019) agree that in hospitals with high patient flow, nurses are assigned more patients, which contributes to burnout. In other words, even hospitals are overwhelmed by the issue.
Your post also makes an instrumental observation on the role of diminished mentorship on nursing shortage. Due to burnout and absenteeism, experienced practitioners have limited time to guide young nurses, which has a direct impact on the quality of healthcare services. A study conducted by de Cordova et al. (2022) to explore the magnitude of burnout revealed that after COVID-19, 36.5% of nurses were prepared to leave their occupations within a year. Deductively, the quality of training and mentorship will be affected further. Although some hospitals have began offering incentives for new nurses, as you have observed, the strategy is not sustainable without emphasizing increased enrollment in nursing schools. Ideally, the solution to the problem should have a long-term approach involving multiple stakeholders. Without adequate staffing, Americans will continue experiencing services that are not commensurate with the public expenditure on healthcare.
