Assignment: Causes of Depression Stem from Cognitive Behavioral Factors Analysis
Question Description
PREPARATION
Suppose you work as a counselor in a crisis center. The agency for which you work tries to offer informational sessions presented by staff members on a regular basis. You have been asked to present at the next session, and your topic is the causes of depression. You must decide if you believe the causes of depression stem from biological factors or from cognitive-behavioral factors, present your perspective (either biological or cognitive-behavioral), your position, and provide evidence-based arguments to support your position.
To prepare for this, research the causes of depression that have been presented by experts. Links to several websites dedicated to the study of depression have been provided in the Suggested Resources for this assessment, along with a list of journal articles. Based on this research, decide which perspective you believe makes the most compelling argument.
In the Capella library, locate at least four peer-reviewed articles that support your position. You may use two of the articles from the resource list provided, but at least two additional resources must come from your own research.
In the real world, this type of presentation would likely use PowerPoint or a similar type of technology; however, for this assessment, format your presentation following APA guidelines. This gives you more practice and experience with the professional writing style of the field of psychology.
To help you organize your work, you may consider using the Causes of Depression Analysis Worksheet provided in the resources. Do not submit the worksheet as your assessment or with your assessment; this is provided solely to assist you in organizing and writing your assessment.
REQUIREMENTS
Prepare a 3–5 page presentation on the causes of depression in which you first identify the perspective you have chosen, and then:
Analyze the research that caused you to choose the perspective you did.
Explain the main arguments presented in the research.
Describe the evidence used in the research to support the main arguments. In other words, what evidence did the researchers use to support their perspective?
Identify any assumptions made by the researchers.
Describe the conclusions or findings of the research.
Explain how the research findings might influence the way psychology professionals view depression. Be sure you consider both accepting and rejecting the findings.
Support your position with credible, scholarly information.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Include a title page and reference page.
Number of pages: 3–5, not including the title page and reference page.
At least four current scholarly or professional resources.

Double-spaced.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
Community health nurses collaborate with community stakeholders to improve the health of the population. Their responsibilities correspond to the provision of primary care, prevention, and health promotion services. Community health nurses use their knowledge, abilities, and experience to comprehend the local context and organize the delivery of health promotion programs with other professionals. They provide leadership on issues that affect people’s health status and advocate for policy or practice reforms that improve their communities’ health status(Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019). In addition, they educate individuals about health and assist them in making decisions that promote positive health outcomes. This is accomplished through counseling services, the development of community-based health promotion initiatives, and the promotion of the use of resources such as health care facilities, social services, and the environment to enhance the health of individuals(Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019).
Similarly, Community health nurses are responsible for building partnerships between communities and organizations that work toward achieving common goals through collaborative partnerships and coalitions as part of community outreach programs (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019). These organizations include government officials, religious groups, local businesses and non-profit organizations (Green et al.,2019). They gather information about community needs to develop programs and services that improve population health outcomes. In addition, they encourage participation by all individuals in the community’s efforts toward improving its population’s health status. According to (GCU, 2022), community health nurses investigate how certain social factors determine health matters. Additionally, Community health nurses help assess the community’s needs and work with government agencies to develop strategies for addressing those needs.
Appraisal of resources such as private foundations, corporations and individuals who provide funds for community programs can help determine if there are gaps in the number of services (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019). They can also reveal whether there are opportunities for expanding current services or creating new ones. These resources are essential in population health promotion since they address various health needs of a community.
LopesWrite Policy
For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.
Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.
Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?
Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.
